Job Summary

At Jacobs, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible. As an Industrial Technician Trainee, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our water treatment facilities. You'll work closely with our experienced team to learn the ins and outs of industrial equipment, maintenance, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine checks and maintenance on industrial equipment, including meters, gauges, and softener systems.
  • Assist in the regeneration and rinsing of softener systems, as well as the cleaning of Microfiltration and RO membrane systems.
  • Collect and record data on water quality and treatment processes.
  • Monitor and report on unit operating conditions, identifying trends and areas for optimization.
  • Perform adjustments to evaporator vessels, heat exchangers, and belt press controls to minimize waste and optimize plant processes.
  • Operate equipment such as compressors, blowers, and pumps, ensuring efficient and safe operation.
  • Patrol the facility, inspecting equipment and reporting any malfunctions or leaks to the maintenance team.
  • Learn and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all systems and upgrades, enabling you to train others and optimize operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with new procedures and techniques, assisting in the implementation of improved processes.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to all environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and mechanical and electrical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of basic water treatment and filtration processes.
  • Familiarity with general industrial equipment operations and maintenance of motors and pumps.
  • Ability to operate an All Terrain Lift and/or Forklift safely.
  • Basic mechanical experience or aptitude to learn.
  • Basic electrical and pneumatic experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license with no major infractions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PC/PLC experience.
  • Basic Chemical Hygiene, laboratory skills, or HAZCOM experience.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software (MS Office, email, internet applications).
  • 6 months experience in a similar role (not required to be in the same field).
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The physical and environmental demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance, and agility. You may be required to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements. The work environment may involve loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights, and depths. You'll be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to prevent hazardous contact.
