Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Brethren Retirement Community. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality resident services in our Assisted Living environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain established policies and procedures, standards of practice, and Residents' Rights, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assess and evaluate Residents' abilities and needs as necessary.
  • Coach and teach Residents and family members as needed.
  • Assign, direct, and supervise Resident Assistants in quality Resident Services.
  • Administer medications and treatments to Residents as directed by their physician.
  • Take physicians' orders, episodic charting, and maintain accurate Resident medical records.
  • Assist in making level of service determinations.
  • Arrange for adequate supplies and properly functioning equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Meet the psychological needs of Residents by maintaining their dignity, providing privacy and confidentiality, and giving gentle and sincere attention to their desires and service needs.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the Community.
  • Maintain a qualified, efficient staff.
  • Participate in planning and projects/teams as necessary.
  • Enhance professional and personal growth and development.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise employees while on duty. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school. Completion of advanced teaching in insertion of gastric tubes, completion of a certified course in IV and blood drawing, knowledge of skills necessary in the assisted living setting, and knowledge of Residential Care Facility regulations desired.

Good interpersonal relationship skills and previous experience working with elders desired. Computer skills are a must.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, document notes/medical records, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Licensed by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing. Completion of required hours of pharmacy and additional pharmacy training qualifying to pass medications.
