Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Senior Power Plant Operator is responsible for operating engine generators, electric blowers, and related equipment within the power generation facility and digester areas. This role includes performing minor maintenance tasks throughout the power plant in a wastewater treatment environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, policies, and procedures while performing assigned tasks. Participation in mandatory safety training sessions is required. Report any unsafe conditions encountered during work.
Operate and monitor engine generators to ensure a consistent supply of electric power to the facility, adjusting operations as necessary to meet fluctuating electrical demands.
Manage and operate electric blowers to provide low-pressure compressed air for the purification process, ensuring operations remain within specified limits to accommodate changing requirements.
Ensure the proper quality and quantity of gas flow to the engine room and/or gas storage facilities.
Monitor and operate low-pressure steam and hot water boilers.
Conduct regular inspections of all operational equipment within the power plant, including monitoring dial and gauge readings.
Perform minor maintenance tasks in the blower generator digester building complex, such as engine adjustments, lubrication, and cleaning.
Maintain a detailed electronic and/or paper log of work activities to provide the next shift with a comprehensive summary of all significant changes and required reports.
Collect samples and conduct tests for cooling/heating loop water and low-pressure boiler water.
Utilize the Rockwell SCADA system for monitoring and operation.
Manage and operate electrical distribution systems.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
