Job Summary

The HVAC Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical training of HVAC technicians, including the Apprenticeship Program and advanced technical training. This role requires strong leadership, mentorship, and coaching abilities, as well as excellent customer service and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technical training curriculum for HVAC technicians.
  • Manage the Apprenticeship Program, including recruiting, program entry eligibility, e-learning, lab, and in-field training.
  • Work with Service Managers, Install Managers, and Branch Manager to develop and implement advanced technical training programs.
  • Provide technical training and coaching to new technicians during the onboarding phase.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections in the field to ensure technical proficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage customer complaints related to substandard installation or technical issues, and develop action plans to resolve these issues.
  • Assess individual technicians' technical deficiencies and provide training to improve their skills.
  • Develop and implement a performance improvement plan for technicians who require additional training or coaching.
  • Work closely with Service and Install Managers to update the performance dispatch matrix to match the most competent technician to the right call.
  • Conduct yearly reviews of truck stock usage and make recommendations for upgrading or eliminating stock.
  • Participate in weekly branch meetings and support the branch with other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
Requirements
  • Master HVAC license holder preferred (or Journeyman to test for Master license within 12 months of hire in role).
  • Proven record of excellent technical expertise on all types of HVAC equipment and installations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of field training work in the residential HVAC industry.
  • Proven record of customer service excellence and a result-driven approach.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to travel in the field or to other branches.
  • Work is performed in the field 60%-80% of the time.
