Corpus Christi, Texas, United States Christus Health Full time

This position qualifies for a 10k sign-on and relocation assistance.

Overview:

The Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of patients. The RN prepares necessary equipment and assists physicians during examinations and medical procedures. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs of patients. The RN meticulously observes and documents patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.

The RN plays a crucial role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care strategies. This role involves directing and supporting safe aseptic techniques and procedures. The RN also provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.

The Shoreline Cardiovascular Step-Down unit features 27 private beds dedicated to specialized cardiac care for patients recovering from open-heart surgery. Our unit caters to cardiovascular and thoracic patients and their families following procedures such as CABG, heart catheterizations, valve replacements, and thoracotomies, among others. Additionally, we care for general medical-surgical patients with primary cardiac diagnoses or histories requiring telemetry monitoring, as well as those needing critical cardiac drips. On this unit, we emphasize training our staff to identify medical issues proactively, enabling them to respond effectively to emergent situations. Opportunities abound for assessments, patient and family education, IV administration, wound care, lab value analysis, and medication management. Our average nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1, ensuring quality care.

One of the advantages of our unit is that we operate within a heart hospital, resulting in high demand for our beds, which are typically occupied, minimizing staff cancellations. We offer flexible scheduling through a bidding system and foster a collaborative team environment. On our unit, we prioritize communication and teamwork, creating an engaging and rewarding atmosphere for healthcare professionals and patients alike.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
