Job Title: Design DrafterThe Design Drafter plays a crucial role in executing design and drafting assignments by following established procedures and standards. This position involves preparing design layouts and product configurations of components using 3D solid modeling design packages, such as SolidWorks.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop detailed solid models and engineering drawings based on provided direction.
- Write and execute Engineering Change Requests on current production models.
- Create Special Equipment Order (SEO) designs based on customer requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional associates.
- Integrate technical expertise into projects and assignments.
- Participate in design teams and contribute as a team member.
- Establish and modify product bills of material.
- Respond to and identify solutions to manufacturing and quality problems.
- Participate in building and testing engineering prototypes.
- Integrate existing technologies into projects and assignments.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or Industrial Technology Management.
- Minimum of Associate's degree or one/two year diploma in design field or 2 years' experience in mechanical design or drafting.
- SolidWorks Certification preferred.
- Minimum experience of internship or co-op in drafting or engineering-related field.
- At least one year previous experience in a drafting or engineering-related field preferred.
- Ability to use critical thinking and sound reasoning to solve moderately complex problems.
- Detail oriented with time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of Engineering design software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Exposure to moderately complex engineering analytical CAE tools (e.g. CFD, FEA).
- Ability to read and use measuring devices.
- Ability to perform complex design drafting via all standard drawing techniques.
- Working knowledge of a variety of raw materials, including plastics, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Physical activity: Use of hand tools for prototype builds. Crouching, light lifting, standing, sitting.
- Physical Requirements: Light work.
- Visual acuity requirements: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
