Deputy Sheriff

Join the Madera County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff and contribute to maintaining public safety and order in our community.

The Deputy Sheriff is a sworn peace officer responsible for enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and providing emergency response services. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Enforce laws and regulations, including traffic laws and ordinances
• Respond to emergency calls, including medical emergencies, accidents, and crimes
• Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare reports
• Provide crowd management and control, and direct pedestrian or vehicular traffic as needed
• Participate in community outreach programs, including speaking and presenting to citizen and school groups
• Stay current with knowledge related to public safety, including attending professional conferences and in-service education programs

• Currently employed as a full-time sworn peace officer in a California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) recognized agency
• Possession of valid certification from P.O.S.T.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make sound judgments, and adapt to new situations quickly
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift, carry, or drag up to 100 pounds and occasionally up to 165 pounds
