We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Paint Specialist to join our team at West Star Aviation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional paint finishing services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Apply advanced spraying techniques and customize chemical formulas to overcome environmental challenges and various substrates and environmental conditions.
- Perform duties in compliance with regulations, including FAA, OSHA, and EPA.
- Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting, including chemical stripping and sanding on various forms of substrates (aluminum, composite, steel, stainless steel, etc.).
- Apply tape masking and use body filler products and sanding techniques as required.
- Complete aircraft paint detailing and ensure a high-quality finish.
- Travel to offsite locations as required.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and management in English.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vo-tech school in paint or on-the-job experience preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport ideal.
- 5+ years of experience in aviation painting operations.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and good at working in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
- Ability to work at heights using fall protection safety gear.
- Ability to lift 70 lbs.
- Ability to operate basic hand tools and ground equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area. Work in aircraft on the ramp may occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment UsedAir equipment, polisher, and sander. Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure posts, and laser level. Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
CompensationThe hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $24.00 to $38.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, shift, and performance.
