Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies. As a key member of our Software R&D team, you will be responsible for developing, coding, testing, and troubleshooting new software or enhancements to existing software for third-party customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for products and commercial software.
  • Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Develop and/or provide technical leadership in the development of new software products or major enhancements to existing software involving the application of new technologies with significant technical risk for both internal and external customers.
  • Perform feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
  • Perform functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software, including customer software, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis requires the evaluation of a variety of factors and demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Follow technical specification requirements and provide feedback on various technical processes and procedures.
  • Resolve customer complaints with software and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements from third-party customers.
  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with projects, which may include external personnel.
  • Participate in the formation of project goals, scope, and schedule.
  • Participate in report writing, planning, scheduling, and cost control, often in a cross-functional team.
  • May be assigned to small projects or to phase(s) of larger project(s).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in software development, with a working knowledge of real-time operating systems, industry experience in mission-critical applications preferred.
  • Experience in networking preferred.
  • Knowledge of med-tech regulatory requirements a plus.
  • Knowledge of embedded operating systems required, experience with development in VxWorks is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in object-oriented engineering and applications development using C++. Experience with modern C++ highly preferred (C++ 11/14/17/20).
Skills
  • Developed experience in technical solution creation and delivery with increased business need and understanding.
  • Complete understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Conducts research in design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing hardware and software and/or electrical components, circuitry, processes, and packaging.
  • Individual must be team-oriented with excellent attitude and vision.
  • At ease delivering results under pressure and not adverse to change.
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
