Job Summary

This is a Part-Time Continuing Education Workforce Development (CEWD) instructor pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered and reviewed based on departmental needs. Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of phlebotomy courses which may be scheduled days, nights, weekends and/or online
  • Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled class times
  • Provide classroom and clinical instruction using a variety of teaching strategies to achieve course and program learning outcomes
  • Observe students in the clinical setting as needed
  • Prepare and distribute course outline / syllabi to students
  • Maintain relationships with clinical affiliates to ensure excellent learning opportunities for students
  • Maintain a time and effort report of daily activities for grants reporting
  • Recommends and identifies programs and/or course improvements as needed to the CEWD Director of Health Programs
  • Participates in curriculum development and/or revisions as needed
  • Participates in textbook selection as needed
  • Identifies and reacts promptly, appropriately, and decisively in correcting safety issues
  • Monitors and documents student attendance/retention
  • Complies with CEWD department and ACC policies and procedures
  • Participates in program meetings
  • Grades assignments, returns graded assignments, and assigns final grades for all students in a timely manner
  • Monitors all equipment and supply inventory and makes recommendations to the CEWD Director of Health Programs for purchases
  • Secures consumable supplies as well as educational materials after class in a secure location
  • Assists ACC in the marketing of the Phlebotomy Program
  • Analyzes, reports and updates the CEWD Director of Health Programs on the outcome of course learning objectives and overall course progress
  • Assists in the resolution of student issues in the courses being taught
  • Adheres to Alvin Community College's policies and procedures
  • Attends institutional meetings as required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current licensure or certification as a Phlebotomy Technician
  • One (1) year work experience as a Phlebotomy Technician
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution and current licensure or certification preferred
  • Two (2) years of previous teaching experience, preferably at an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Two (2) years of previous clinical experience in supervising students
