Probation Officer

Join the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice as a Probation Officer and play a critical role in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth into their communities.

As a Probation Officer, you will be responsible for providing domestic and delinquent intake services, as well as juvenile probation and parole supervision. You will work closely with youth, families, and community partners to develop and implement effective interventions and services that promote behavioral change and public safety.

• Provide domestic and delinquent intake services, including interviewing clients and assessing their needs
• Develop and implement individualized case plans to promote behavioral change and public safety
• Provide juvenile probation and parole supervision, including monitoring client progress and providing support and guidance as needed
• Collaborate with community partners to identify and access resources and services that support youth and families
• Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and progress

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or criminal justice
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth and families in a related field
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system and court proceedings
• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and guidelines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
