Position Reports to: Emergency Department Director
Department Overview: Wilson Health's Emergency Department features a 14-bed unit that has gained national recognition for its exceptionally rapid treatment and discharge times for patients.
Role Summary: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is tasked with delivering prescribed medical treatments and personal care services to patients who are ill, injured, recovering, or disabled within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts accurate triage and ongoing assessments of both physical and psychosocial issues for patients in the Emergency Department, covering a diverse patient population including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, young to middle-aged adults, and geriatrics.
- Facilitates patient registration to initiate a swift registration process, gathering essential demographic information as needed.
- Prepares and applies ID bracelets for Emergency Department patients.
- Develops a comprehensive nursing care plan for Emergency Department patients and collaborates on overall patient care.
- Implements care plans based on assessment data and established knowledge.
- Educates patients and their significant others on illness and injury prevention.
- Ensures effective communication with patients, their families, and team members to facilitate successful therapeutic interventions.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Current R.N. license in the State of Ohio.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications within two years of hire.
