Job Title: Deputy Sheriff

Craven County, NC is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a critical role in maintaining law and order in our community.

Job Summary

The Deputy Sheriff will be responsible for serving civil documents, including summons, warrants, subpoenas, and other court orders. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve legal papers, including civil and criminal processes, summons, warrants, subpoenas, special proceedings, orders to appear and show cause, restraining orders, child support custody orders, order of attachment, commitment papers, orders for arrest and special court orders.
  • Locate designated parties and explain the meaning of the papers served.
  • Make arrests when necessary and appear in court as a witness to give testimony.
  • Prepare reports of activities and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriffs' Training and Standards Commission.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
