Academic Advisor Role
SUMMARY
The Academic Advisor position is focused on providing guidance to students regarding their educational trajectories, academic achievements, career options, and various academic endeavors to support their success and timely graduation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and execute a comprehensive counseling program tailored for the school.
- Articulate program objectives to relevant stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with educators to implement guidance strategies.
- Offer advice on educational pathways and career development.
- Facilitate workshops on financial assistance and college admissions.
- Organize events that provide career and job information.
- Coordinate college information sessions and student excursions.
- Engage with social service organizations for student support.
- Assist students in creating personalized academic plans alongside CTE educators.
- Review student transcripts and oversee class schedules.
- Investigate mental health resources to mitigate obstacles.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions for students.
- Collaborate with educators and community services to address student issues.
- Refer students to community resources based on individual needs.
- Support student behavioral management initiatives.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in an advising capacity.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
A valid driver's license and personal automobile insurance are required. Ability to travel as necessary.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The individual must be capable of performing essential job functions, which include walking, lifting, and using hands and arms effectively.
WORK SETTING
This role primarily takes place in a classroom environment and may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
