Position: CNC Mill Machine Operator
Job Type: Full-time
General Overview:
The CNC Mill Machine Operator is tasked with the operation of both Horizontal and Vertical computer numerical control machines, as well as manual equipment, to manufacture precision components. The operator is responsible for loading materials into the machinery, managing the machining cycles, and identifying any operational issues, including worn or damaged cutting tools. This role involves executing production runs, collaborating with team members on production processes, and ensuring a safe, organized, and clean workspace. This position encompasses all CNC Mill operators at Faxon Firearms.
Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts all assigned machining operations efficiently.
- Identifies and reports any defective materials or concerning conditions to management.
- Adheres to quality control procedures and completes necessary inspection documentation.
- Keeps the work area and machinery in a clean and orderly state, following established safety protocols.
- Performs inspections on machined products and records the results accurately.
- Maintains and completes all required paperwork for produced parts.
- Comprehends all blueprint and operational drawing specifications prior to commencing work.
- Understands production quotas as outlined in the router or as directed.
- Ensures all measuring instruments are calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Utilizes overhead cranes for the loading and unloading of materials into machines.
- Conducts routine maintenance on machinery, including changing lubricants and coolants.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience Required:
- At least 6 months of experience in a similar role, with a desire for personal growth in the trade.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Additional Skills:
- Willingness to learn and become proficient in operating relevant equipment.
- Possesses a positive attitude.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
- Familiarity with G Code and M Code is advantageous.
- Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, and uses hands to manipulate tools or controls. Occasionally, the employee may need to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, or perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
The employee must be capable of lifting weights exceeding 50 pounds from the ground and potentially above shoulder height.
