POSITION OVERVIEW

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role in orchestrating the comprehensive Plan of Care for designated patients and their families. This position involves delivering essential interventions and support tailored to the physical, emotional, social, economic, and spiritual needs of patients and their caregivers, while actively engaging as a vital member of the interdisciplinary team.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Academic Background: Completion of an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Professional Experience: Prior nursing experience in a hospital, home health setting, or hospice is advantageous; however, new graduates are also welcome to apply.
Licensure: Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas.
Additional Qualifications: Flexibility in work hours and occasional overtime is necessary. CPR certification is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Deliver safe, high-quality, and holistic nursing care to assigned patients, families, and caregivers; oversee the creation and modification of the patient's Plan of Care.
  2. Conduct continuous physical and emotional assessments of patients and families for hospice admission; evaluate their response to hospice services and provide clear information regarding care expectations.
  3. Collaborate with the hospice physician to provide care that prioritizes pain relief and addresses the emotional and spiritual challenges associated with serious illnesses.
  4. Gather data on physical, psychological, social, and spiritual factors affecting patient and family health; integrate this information into the care plan as needed.
  5. Facilitate effective communication with patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, and other healthcare providers; initiate discussions with attending physicians and community resources to report changes and optimize care.
  6. Maintain accurate and current patient records to reflect problems, plans, actions, and goals, ensuring timely updates as changes occur.
  7. Document daily care provided in accordance with organizational standards.
  8. Educate patients, families, and team members about hospice care; instruct families and caregivers on effective patient care techniques.
  9. Utilize equipment and supplies efficiently; manage orders for supplies, medications, and equipment appropriately.
  10. Actively engage in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and care planning sessions.
  11. Conduct evaluations of CNAs and/or LPNs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  12. Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
  13. Uphold strict confidentiality at all times.
  14. Exhibit excellent customer service skills; seek opportunities to assist patients, families, and colleagues, demonstrating teamwork and collaboration.
  15. Follow directions from supervisors and seek additional information as necessary; work independently with minimal supervision.
  16. Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  17. Consistently meet organizational standards for attendance and punctuality; inform supervisors promptly of any absences or delays.
  18. Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions; pursue opportunities for professional development as appropriate.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.
