Job Summary

The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic is a critical role within the U.S. Army, responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of wheeled vehicles and associated equipment. As a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers, and material handling equipment systems.
  • Inspect, service, maintain, repair, replace, adjust, and test wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Service automotive electrical systems, including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems.
  • Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations.
Training and Qualifications

Job training for a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, part-time position with a salary range of $30,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a driver's license is preferred. Work authorization is required for the United States.
