Job Summary

Waste Management is seeking a skilled Commercial Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment. As a Commercial Driver, you will be responsible for providing pick-up services of containers filled with waste or recyclable material. This role requires strong backing maneuvers and the ability to navigate high traffic and congested roadways.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR.
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by Waste Management or directed by the Route Manager.
  • Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  • Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on the service list.
  • Completely dump all containers and leave the customer's location clean and free of debris.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed.
  • Position and return containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, enclosure doors are closed and secured, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and check-out process.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Qualifications
  • Must have at least one year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment DOT drug screen and DOT physical.
  • Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with an air-brake endorsement.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a physical environment with dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes. The level of physical effort may vary from site to site and in some cases be greater or lesser than documented here.
