About the Team:

The Structures team at Relativity is integral to the design, analysis, and testing of our launch vehicle structures and mechanisms. As a member of this team, you will take ownership of hardware throughout its lifecycle, ensuring that your designs are validated through rigorous testing processes. You will collaborate with various teams to utilize our cutting-edge 3D printing technology, contributing to the development of advanced launch vehicles that are critical to our mission.

About the Role:

Your responsibilities will encompass the entire design process, from initial concept through to testing and manufacturing of key structural components such as Thrust Structures, Propellant Tanks, and Fairings. You will be expected to apply innovative thinking to optimize design, reduce weight, and streamline manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative structural designs and load paths for complex aerospace components.
  • Conduct reviews of load inputs, material properties, and structural requirements.
  • Perform analysis and sizing of flight structures to facilitate timely design reviews.
  • Lead hardware testing initiatives, including integration and evaluation of results.
  • Contribute to the development of manufacturing processes for structural components.

About You:

  • 8+ years of experience in a design engineering capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proficient in industry-standard CAD software such as NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
  • Experienced in structural analysis techniques, including hand calculations and Finite Element Methods.
  • Understanding of structural integrity, stability, and fatigue failure mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with both additive and traditional manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects through their full lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of mechanical or structural design and analysis experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of NX/TeamCenter.
  • Expertise in using Nastran and ANSYS for structural analysis.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and technical drafting.
