Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Coordinator to join our team at Barrow Brain and Spine. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical clinic and procedure suite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Support
    • Ensure all initial consultations, pertinent notes, lab slips, radiology and pathology reports are available to the physician prior to patient arrival.
    • Prepare dressing room, procedure room and equipment for each new patient.
  • Patient Care
    • Greet patients and escort them to dressing rooms.
    • Review patient history and update as needed. Take vitals and document in Centricity.
    • Perform urine toxicity screenings.
    • Measure and record vital signs.
    • Retrieve laboratory test results and patient files.
  • Administrative Support
    • Answer telephone and respond to inquiries, directing callers to appropriate personnel.
    • Set up for in-office injections, including trigger point, bursa, and occipital nerve blocks.
    • Assist physician as needed during procedure, monitor patient in recovery area.
    • Ensure all facets of services are provided in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Communication and Customer Service
    • Conduct reminder calls to patients for pain management procedures.
    • Ensure all activities of the department are performed in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
    • Order and maintain inventory of supplies.
    • Ensure confidentiality and the integrity of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Qualifications
    • Reports to work regularly without undue tardiness.
    • Maintains positive attitude and demonstrates the utmost in professionalism.
    • Dresses appropriately and professionally.
    • Completes work accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills, along with tact, diplomacy, and strong customer service orientation.
    • Prioritizes work activities and receives and assumes multiple job duties.
    • Maintains effective working relationships with physicians, administration, BBS staff members, and hospital personnel.
