Magnet Medical is seeking a highly skilled Medical Imaging Specialist to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Job Summary

This role involves working as an Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist, assisting with minimally invasive procedures that utilize imaging techniques to guide physicians in diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation
    • Prepare the IR suite by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
    • Review patient information and previous imaging studies to ensure correct procedure and protocols.
    • Verify patient identity, allergies, and consent forms before the procedure begins.
    • Explain the procedure to the patient and provide reassurance to reduce anxiety.
  • Assisting During Procedures
    • Assist interventional radiologists in performing minimally invasive procedures, including angiograms, biopsies, and stent insertions.
    • Operate imaging equipment to guide physicians during procedures, ensuring accurate imaging.
    • Maintain a sterile environment and handle devices as required.
    • Administer contrast agents or dyes, as directed by the physician.
    • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the medical team.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort
    • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure, positioning the patient appropriately.
    • Minimize radiation exposure by following radiation safety protocols.
    • Monitor patients for signs of complications and report findings to the physician.
  • Post-Procedure Care
    • Monitor patients post-procedure for any immediate complications.
    • Assist in transferring patients to recovery or another unit after the procedure.
    • Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients.
    • Remove catheter lines, drains, or other devices after the procedure if required.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Maintain and inspect IR equipment, ensuring they are functioning correctly.
    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions during procedures to ensure minimal disruption to patient care.
    • Keep accurate records of equipment use and maintenance issues.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team
    • Work closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Provide feedback and support to the medical team during procedures.
    • Participate in discussions before and after procedures to review patient conditions and procedural outcomes.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping
    • Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and medications administered.
    • Maintain detailed logs of imaging procedures and patient conditions during and after the procedure.
  • Radiation Safety and Compliance
    • FOLLOW RADIATION SAFETY PROTOCOLS TO ENSURE MINIMIZED EXPOSURE FOR PATIENT AND MEDICAL STAFF.
    • ADHERE TO HEALTHCARE REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS, INCLUDING HIPAA AND INFECTION CONTROL MEASURES.
    • STAY UPDATED ON THE LATEST RADIATION SAFETY PRACTICES AND IMAGING TECHNIQUES.
  • Professional Development and Training
    • Participate in continuing education and training to remain current with the latest technologies and best practices.
    • Obtain and maintain certifications in radiologic technology and interventional radiology.
    • Mentor and assist in training new IR technologists or students in proper procedures and safety protocols.

The estimated salary for this position is between $7,500.00 and $12,500.00 per week, based on 40 hours per week.
