Job Summary

The Registered Nurse RN Med Surg position is a critical role in providing high-quality patient care. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the ongoing delivery of care to assigned patients. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and direct nursing procedures, prescribed treatments, based on knowledge of principles and practice of Registered Nurse.
  • Insert I.V.'s, administer I.V. medications, and begin blood product transfusion, as per hospital policy.
  • Observe and record patient reactions to medication, I.V. therapy, blood transfusion, and treatment.
  • Evaluate patient's signs and symptoms; record and report results. Set priorities and modify patient care in response to changing conditions by utilizing problem-solving skills and exhibiting good judgment.
  • Collaborate with physician regarding patient progress towards the outcome attainment. Assist physician during treatment and examination of patient and process orders.
  • Make appropriate and timely notification to physician on patient condition changes.
  • Receive and transcribe/check physician's orders in a timely manner.
  • Provide and document patient and family education as needed.
  • May function as a leader of nursing personnel and be responsible for their performance.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, positioning, range of motion, elimination, and ambulating.
  • Communicate clinical outcomes with patient and family.
  • Actively participate in the orientation of new personnel.
Requirements
  • Current State of Indiana Registered Nurse License or compact license required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse. Associates Degree required.
  • 1 year of clinical/hospital RN experience preferred.
  • BLS must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing skills, including phlebotomy.
  • Acquired knowledge and skills to give age-appropriate care in the surgical patient care settings.
