92NY School Engagement in the Arts stands as one of New York City's premier community arts education organizations.
We design vibrant programs, performances, and discussions for thousands of K-12 students and their educators throughout the city each year.
We are thrilled to introduce a new choral initiative for our partner K-12 public school classrooms.We seek a passionate and skilled Choral Education Specialist to facilitate in-school and after-school choral residencies in public schools across the five boroughs of NYC.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct weekly workshops at participating elementary school classrooms. Each workshop typically lasts 45 minutes, equivalent to a class period. The Choral Education Specialist will generally lead two to five 45-minute sessions per visit. Schools are distributed across the boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Manhattan).
Design and implement an engaging choral curriculum for students in grades K-12.
Lead rehearsals and prepare students for culminating performances.
Select a diverse and suitable repertoire for the choir.
Create a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
Engage in mandatory training sessions, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Choral Conducting, or a related discipline is required.
Proficiency in keyboard skills is advantageous.
Experience in directing school or community choirs, particularly in a public school context, is preferred.
Strong understanding of vocal techniques and choral literature.
Exceptional communication, classroom management, and organizational abilities.
A genuine passion for nurturing young students and enhancing their musical skills.

Work Hours and Environment
Candidates should be prepared to participate in professional development and planning meetings with 92NY staff and be available to work during standard school hours (8am-2:30pm ET) from October through May (residency schedules will be determined on a school-by-school basis).

Choral Education Specialists will also receive compensation for participation in curriculum meetings with 92NY and planning sessions with school personnel.
