Licensed Practical Nurse in Pulmonary Care

Key Responsibilities:
- The Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist/Licensed Practical Nurse (CPFT/LPN) is responsible for conducting a range of pulmonary diagnostic assessments, including but not limited to pulmonary function tests, oximetry, FENO testing, home sleep studies, and the administration of durable medical equipment (DME).
- This role includes performing routine quality control checks on pulmonary function apparatus and maintaining comprehensive patient records. The CPFT/LPN operates independently within the Pulmonary Function laboratory.
- AHA-BLS certification is mandatory; however, it is not a prerequisite for securing the position.
- The CPFT/LPN will also provide patient care in the capacity of an LPN as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are Registered or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologists.
- LPN candidates who hold current credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as Certified Pulmonary Function Technologists or those eligible for such credentialing will be prioritized.
- LPNs who are not currently eligible for NBRC certification must complete the required 62 credit hours for credentialing within one year of employment from an accredited institution, including courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
- AHA-BLS certification must be obtained within six months of hire, or a current non-AHA-BLS certification will be accepted until its renewal date.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in Medical Office settings, Pulmonary Function Testing, and DME.
- As applicable, the individual should have training or competency in addressing the unique needs and behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients receiving care.
