Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

The Rescue Mission is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our facilities, as well as performing routine maintenance and repairs to our equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to equipment and systems, including but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, including cleaning, painting, and repairing walls, floors, and ceilings.
  • Operate and maintain our irrigation systems, as well as water flowers, shrubs, and landscaping as needed.
  • Assist in the performance of prescribed preventative maintenance needs on equipment, as directed by the Team Supervisor.
  • Document and complete all necessary paperwork associated with monthly, quarterly, and yearly preventive maintenance checklists and reports.
  • Assure the availability of necessary equipment and materials by being responsible for their proper pick up and delivery as needed.
  • Work with our work request and preventive maintenance system to complete all necessary paperwork/documentation associated with work order requests.
  • Meet emergency needs by serving as an emergency on-call maintenance staff person for repairs after normal working hours.
  • Ability to plan, execute, and complete projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to instruct and lead other staff and volunteer groups.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Regular and predictable in-person attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
  • Promote a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
  • Support the Rescue Mission by agreeing to work within the parameters of the Mission, Vision, and Values.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • One (1) year hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Valid NYS driver's license in compliance with Rescue Mission requirements.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for certain areas of this job.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions required.
  • Participation with rotating on-call responsibilities is required.
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Must comply with CDC guidelines regarding Covid-19, including but not limited to, wearing a mask when working.
  • Full vaccination against Covid-19, including booster (when eligible) are required for specific facilities. For facilities that do not require Covid-19 vaccines, full vaccination and booster (when eligible) are strongly encouraged.
