Job Title: Economic Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Economic Development Specialist to join our team at PNM Resources. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting our load growth and viability, maintaining existing major C&I customers, and expanding with both existing and prospective companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mobilize and coordinate activities to develop preliminary engineering and service plans for major companies with >1MW to create customized project proposals and major expansions for existing customers
  • Analyze tariff options, obtain pricing quotes, and recommend tariffs
  • Perform analysis to ascertain Economic Development Rider (EDR) eligibility and guide the application process with customers and local regulating entities
  • Prepare service agreements and assist in final contract negotiations, liaising with Legal and Regulatory
  • Assess national and regional changes in socio-economic and business trends affecting business attraction and retention
  • Analyze load forecasting of prospective and existing C&I customers
  • Conduct detailed real estate site searches
  • Assist in compiling proposals and customized solutions for prospects and economic development organizations
  • Maintain demographic, socio-economic, and land databases, including site-ready zones and substation capacity availability lists
  • Support Account Management to provide customer research and guidance for expansion projects; respond to requests for proposals
  • Develop and maintain project plans for major projects and maintain the Economic Development dashboard
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university focused in business, engineering, or a related field, with five to seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Preferred: Economic/Business Development, Marketing, or Customer Management degree
  • Must possess a current, legally valid driver's license and meet the company's driving record requirements
Working Environment:

This is an individual contributor position that works independently with only general direction, relying on knowledge, skills, and judgment acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.

The employee is regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Must be able to attend events as necessary and visit customer locations.
