Police Records Clerk

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Records Assistant. This role is responsible for maintaining all arrest files, incident files, court files, and citation files generated by our department.
Key Responsibilities- Screen incoming telephone calls and respond to questions or transfer calls to appropriate personnel.
- Greet visitors and answer questions, accept and retrieve packages/deliveries, and notify appropriate personnel of guests or deliveries.
- Operate various office equipment and prepare and process forms, documents, and other written communications.
- Process reports, citations, and associated documentation through daily bursting, logging, and routing to designated case files.
- Assist department personnel, other agencies, and the public in retrieving information and files and disseminating requested reports.
- Monitor and assist with the administration of the parking and compliance ticket program.
- Operate a computer terminal and printer with knowledge of LEADS and CJIS to enter, modify, and retrieve reports and records.
- Knowledge of business English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and compose standard reports following general instructions.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with the public in a tactful but firm manner.
- Ability to learn software applications quickly and accurately.
- Ability to maintain an efficient record-keeping system and undertake multiple tasks at one time.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school, including or supplemented by business school courses in keyboarding, organization, and general office procedures.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a professional or administrative assistant or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Workable knowledge of municipal police operations.
