Job Title: Class A CDL Driver

Clayton Homes, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a highly skilled Class A CDL Driver to join our team. As a Toter Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting oversized and overweight loads across the region, ensuring safe and efficient transportation while maintaining accurate paperwork and a professional appearance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport oversized loads within the region, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including daily maintenance checks and electronic driver logs, to meet compliance standards.
  • Partner with Driver Supervisors and Pilot/Escort Drivers to coordinate daily permits and load selection.
  • Coordinate pick-up and delivery of oversized loads, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Provide route information and best practices to the oversized load team.
  • Return to the terminal with completed delivery paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Carry out end-of-shift/day clean-up procedures, including cleaning and servicing of workstations and equipment.
  • Report any traffic accidents or load damages to the local authorities and driver supervisor team in a timely manner.
  • Provide world-class customer experience while on the road and during delivery.
Requirements:
  • Valid CDL License
  • Motor Vehicle Report & Background Check in line with Company Requirements
  • Must pass company drug testing and adhere to company policies
  • Availability for overnight stays 2-3 nights each week
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs, getting on hands/knees to make repairs/inspections, safely entering/ exiting the vehicle
  • Physically able to bend down, stoop over, squat, or get down on one's knees to inspect brakes, wiring, axles, tires, and other items required to be inspected per company policy
  • Willing to operate a motor vehicle in all 48 states
  • Proficient in reading and speaking the English language, able to understand bills of lading and permits, and to safely plan trips
