Nursing Process:
Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care to cultivate a healing environment.

Exhibits critical thinking in recognizing clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues relevant to patient care.

Qualifications:
The individual must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of varying ages served by their assigned unit as specified.

They must also exhibit knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpreting the necessary information to identify each patient's age-specific requirements and provide care as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum of 2 years of experience required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good rating or higher on a Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluation to be eligible for promotion to this level. Must maintain a Solid/Strong/Good rating or higher on annual performance evaluations to retain status. Annual completion of a VP-approved professional contribution selected from one of the corporate nursing goals is required. VP approval is necessary for promotion.


Licensure and Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the practicing state.
UPMC-approved nursing certification is required. Certification is not necessary if a Master's in nursing is held. CPR certification is required based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
