Location: Morgan City, LA
Role Summary: We are looking for a Material Procurement and Inventory Specialist to become a vital part of our operations in Morgan City, LA. The successful candidate will possess a solid background in procurement and inventory management, ideally within a shipbuilding or fabrication environment. This position is responsible for overseeing materials, tools, and equipment utilized in shipbuilding repairs and construction, managing the receipt of materials, addressing discrepancies, and leading warehouse staff.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct procurement and inventory management tasks, ensuring optimal handling and storage of materials.
- Oversee materials, tools, and equipment essential for shipbuilding repairs and construction projects.
- Facilitate the receipt of materials and address any discrepancies that arise.
- Lead and coordinate the efforts of warehouse staff.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inventory and procurement processes.
- Employ basic computer applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook) for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Engage effectively with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to guarantee timely procurement and delivery of materials.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 6 months of experience in procurement and inventory management, preferably in a shipbuilding or fabrication context.
- Familiarity with the materials, tools, and equipment used in shipbuilding repairs and construction.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications and standard software (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook).
- Supervisory or management experience is advantageous.
- Experience with Oracle software is a plus.
