Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Safety Specialist, you will:
- Assist in the management of the plant's safety program.
- Identify and assess training needs from a safety perspective.
- Engage in safety committee initiatives, fostering accountability, establishing objectives, and ensuring follow-up.
- Conduct regular safety evaluations and formulate action plans.
- Review and propose safety policies and procedures in collaboration with department managers.
- Document accident data and generate necessary reports.
- Analyze near-miss or injury data to create strategies for minimizing lost time through root cause analysis.
- Lead safety enhancement projects and execute corrective measures.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment that prioritizes employee health and well-being.
- Be prepared for potential travel and/or extended hours as required.
- Utilize tools such as computers and phones to perform job duties.
- Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill essential responsibilities.
Qualified candidates will possess:
Education & Experience- A preferred bachelor's degree in occupational safety or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the safety field, ideally within the manufacturing sector.
- Preferred certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or a comparable area.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, specifically OSHA standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and sustaining safety programs.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and crisis management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; reliable and capable of working effectively in a team setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to conduct incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions.
- Awareness of industrial hygiene principles.
- Familiarity with safety inspection and assessment tools and equipment.
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous.
- A dedicated commitment to continuous improvement in safety performance and processes.
