Project Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Ross Group Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and generating documentation, scheduling material delivery, and mobilizing subcontractor personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and generate documentation, including RFIs, submittals, memos, transmittals, purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders.
  • Schedule the delivery of materials and mobilize subcontractor personnel on behalf of the superintendent.
  • Verify the accuracy of submittals, confirm final drawings, inspect installed materials, and identify as-built changes during project closeout.
  • Assist in managing the project budget and develop scenarios to help achieve that budget.
  • Coordinate up to $5 million per year of subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Setup project files and maintain all plans and specifications, ensuring appropriate distribution of copies to field offices.
  • Communicate with subcontractors to inform them of upcoming bids, distribute plans, specifications, and addenda, and ensure they have adequate certificates of insurance.
  • Create and track submittals, transmittals, requests for information, and shop drawing logs.
  • Confirm that all materials are delivered on time and are in compliance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor quality control and safety programs to ensure the project is following approved plans.
  • Take notes on conversations with all parties involved in the project, file all correspondence in project files, and assist in preparation of reports.
  • Coordinate all closeout procedures, including O&M manuals, as-builts, warranties, keys, and extra materials.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assist with estimating and review subcontractor quotes for accuracy.
  • Generate work plans and document job site activities, including progress pictures.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous relevant experience in construction management.
  • Willing and able to relocate to Ross Group offices or project sites, typically located throughout the South and Midwest.
  • Proven history of dependability in meeting attendance guidelines, following instructions, and timely responses.
  • Ability to manage rapidly changing priorities to accomplish project goals.
  • Flexible work hours, with an average of 50 hours per week or as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of employees, Ross Group management, and outside partners.
  • Appropriate leadership skills and abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity on an occasional basis.
  • Stand, climb, bend, and stoop on an occasional basis.
  • Use visual and auditory skills.

Eligibility for Auto Allowance:

Some positions warrant eligibility for a monthly auto allowance. When an employee is deemed eligible, the use of the vehicle must be for the employer's convenience, the use of the vehicle must be required as a condition of employment, and the vehicle must qualify as an acceptable vehicle defined by Company depending on the employee's function within the organization.
