About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team at Sloan, a leading manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products, analyzing and resolving design challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new products in a team-based, stage-gate development process
  • Analyze and resolve design challenges and quality issues through engineering analysis, including FEA and CFD, tolerance analysis, statistical methods, and design of experiments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and design, to drive innovation and growth
  • Develop and document engineering specifications and material requirements
  • Process ECNs and follow established document control procedures
  • Plan and execute effective component and system-level experimentation to verify and validate engineering designs
  • Prepare clear and concise documentation for designs, including drawings, inspection requirements, calibration procedures, and work instructions
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization, both orally and in written fashion
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 3-5 years of relative experience
  • Advanced level experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication in all interactions, consistent with an inclusive work environment
  • Working knowledge of die casting, injection molding, machining, and/or fabrication
  • Comfortable working in multiple software packages and complicated surface profiles
  • Ability to produce supporting documentation, including 2-D models and FEA analysis
  • Proficiency and expertise in 3-D modeling
  • Strong analytical skills in hydraulics/fluidics, mechanisms, dynamics, and tolerance analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in design of hydraulic systems, plastic injection molded parts, zinc and brass castings, seals
  • Experience using Creo, FEA software, statistical software
  • Knowledge of 6 sigma and design of 6 sigma principles
  • Knowledge of statistics, failure analysis, and design of experiments
