Job Title: Automotive Shop Foreman

At Atlantic Auto and Diesel, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Shop Foreman to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist technicians in developing their skills and providing technical support when necessary.
  • Ensure repairs are charged out correctly and checks progress of each repair order throughout the day.
  • Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimize comebacks.
  • Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Road test vehicles to quality-check work performed.
  • Monitor technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
  • Monitor shop condition, including cleanliness, safety, and the condition of shop equipment.
  • Ensure the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases.
  • Fills in for service advisor when necessary.
  • Strives for harmony and teamwork within the shop.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
Requirements:
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of modern methods of maintaining and repairing automotive, medium/heavy duty trucks and equipment.
  • Knowledge of operating principles and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered engines.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive process.
Physical Demands:
  • Works in various weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease/oils, electrical energy.
  • Have visual acuity to perform visual inspections involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines.
  • Body agility: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping.
  • Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touch.
  • Dexterity: whole-hand (grabbing and holding) and fingertip (picking and pinching).
