Job Overview

Under general supervision, the individual will ensure the precision and punctuality of financial reporting processes. This role encompasses the management of journals, as well as the monitoring, calculation, analysis, and reconciliation of fund balances, revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities in accordance with established compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reconciliation: Apply accounting principles and practices to conduct reconciliation activities of related general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts, ensuring adherence to institutional, federal, and state accounting regulations.
  • Record Maintenance: Review and update financial records, including general ledgers, to guarantee accurate management, control, and reporting of financial elements.
  • Month-End Closing: Execute the month-end closing process for the Finance General Ledger, reviewing and approving daily transactions while confirming the accuracy of funding sources.
  • Transaction Processing: Manage interdepartmental transactions and journals across the university, ensuring proper documentation and addressing inquiries related to financial transactions.
  • Reporting: Prepare internal and external financial reports in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with reporting standards.
  • Audit Support: Respond to audit requests from both internal and external sources, assisting in the closure of grants and year-end financial reporting.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research analyses and special projects as assigned, contributing to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Knowledge: Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, as well as accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in specialized accounting systems and software, including Microsoft Office Professional.

Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective customer service, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Experience: A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting.
