Job Summary

At Lancaster General Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant(CMA) to join our team at Family Medicine Lancaster General Health. As a CMA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Responsibilities

As a CMA, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing patients for visits by using appropriate rooming standards tools.
  • Administering injections, as prescribed by providers and in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Preparing and administering medications as prescribed by providers in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Preparing and assisting providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and other exams as designated by providers.
  • Performing Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Removing sutures and changing dressings on wounds as necessary.
  • Providing clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence in accordance with established triage protocols and relaying information to patients.
  • Authorizing prescription refills as directed by providers.
  • Assisting in test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
  • Assuring exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
  • Maintaining and cleaning medical instruments and equipment after each procedure.
  • Assisting with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Performing care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain all necessary patient information.
  • Assisting in the coordination of referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Actively participating in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.
  • Participating in daily huddles with providers.
  • Serving as a patient experience advocate by being always a positive influence when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Handling all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.


Requirements

To be successful as a CMA at Lancaster General Health, you will need to have:
  • A high school diploma or general equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR).
  • CPR Certification required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider (AHA Heart Saver AMA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • For Regional Positions only - Valid driver's license is required.
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e., not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal or state health insurance program.


Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:
  • One (1) to two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office.
