This role involves assisting in the maintenance and preparation of maritime vessels, focusing on physical labor tasks that require teamwork and coordination.
Work Schedule:
Hours: 5:15 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday; Monday and Tuesday
Location:
Naval shipyard environment
Contract Duration:
7-day contract with potential for renewal multiple times throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
The contractor will be responsible for:
1. **Wrapping the vessel** for five days using cables weighing 2-3 lbs. in a collaborative team effort.
2. **Unwrapping the vessel** for two days, also as part of a team.
The cables must be manually lifted from the water level to the top of the casing, which is approximately 6 feet above the water surface. The cables used are 1-1/2 to 2 inches in diameter and weigh 2.2 lbs. per foot.
Work Environment:
The job will be conducted outdoors on the vessel, requiring physical exertion and the ability to work in potentially dirty conditions.
Essential Requirements:
- Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 2.2 lbs and work effectively in a group setting.
- Steel-toe footwear is mandatory.
- All workers must arrive daily equipped with steel-toe boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and are required to report to the designated location by 5:15 AM each morning, with transportation provided back at the end of the workday.
