Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled EMT Driver to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Transport MICU Driver, you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation of patients to and from medical facilities, while also maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the safety of the fleet, cargo, and passengers in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  • Assist with the planning of transport team activities and office duties as requested.
  • Provide cleaning and minor maintenance, daily inspections, and documentation for department and state requirements.
  • Evaluate methods of practice and recommend changes to improve department and patient outcomes.
  • Participate in unit committees and projects to assure daily operation and growth of the Transport Program.
  • Function as a resource to referral staff, Nationwide Children's staff, and the community.
  • Assist team with patient care as defined in scope of practice and in accordance with Transport Team protocols.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.
  • Certified by the State of Ohio as an EMT-B or EMT-I (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or Intermediate), required.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) or equivalent, preferred.
Working Conditions

The Transport MICU Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, and loud noises. The driver will also be required to work at heights and in hot/cold temperatures.

The driver will be required to drive for long distances and/or periods of time, and must have 10 hours off from other jobs/positions prior to shift. The driver must also have a body weight, with full uniform, not exceeding 230 lbs. due to flight regulations.
