POSITION SUMMARY:
The Custodial Services Technician is responsible for executing cleaning tasks to uphold the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of designated educational facilities.
This position reports to the school principal or designated authority.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts cleaning operations in classrooms, restrooms, administrative offices, and dining areas; including mopping floors, vacuuming, stripping, buffing, and waxing surfaces, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning windows, and maintaining the exterior grounds by picking up litter as directed. Responsibilities also include changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, rearranging furniture, removing graffiti, and securing the premises at the end of each day.
Completes inventory assessments of custodial supplies and places orders as necessary. Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the custodial storage area.
Assists with emergency response and general assignments as operationally required.
Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure the effective execution of the above responsibilities.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading English is essential.
At least one (1) year of experience in commercial cleaning is preferred.
Decision-making responsibilities that affect all staff and students within the assigned facility.
Ability to make informed decisions and recommendations under the guidance of the school principal or designated authority.
Regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders to discuss important matters.
Familiarity with computer applications (such as Word and Google email) is preferred.
Physical demands vary based on tasks; work environment includes school grounds and buildings, subject to diverse weather conditions.
Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be capable of lifting up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and up to one hundred (100) pounds occasionally.
Position requires walking, standing, kneeling, and bending for eight (8) hours daily; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and navigate stairs.
NOTE:
This is a grade 13, 225-day position that compensates for experience up to a Step 6 to Step 8.
