Electrical/Automation Engineer

Michelin North America is seeking a highly skilled Electrical/Automation Engineer to join our team. As a leading company in the tire industry, we are committed to delivering exceptional products and services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading pre-studies to determine the most effective solutions for industrial investment projects, with a primary focus on tire testing and measurement machines. They will also facilitate the design or integration process, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and relevant standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing automated control systems
  • Conducting feasibility studies, evaluating costs, deadlines, risks, and functional choice criteria
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure seamless integration of systems
  • Supporting the quality system and methods of the group, including risk analyses and design reviews
  • Providing support for prototype projects and existing equipment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an automation engineer
  • Experience in designing automated control systems, including drives, servos, electrical panels, safety designs, and measurement systems
  • Proficiency in PLC programming standards and software, such as Ladder Logic and Structured Text
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues

Desirable skills and competencies include:

  • Knowledge of PLCs, including AB PLC5, AB SLC, AB MicroLogix, AB ControlLogix, Siemens, etc.
  • Familiarity with AC and DC drive systems, servo systems, and safety designs
  • Experience in electrical panel design
  • Understanding of measurement techniques, including DAQ, noise reduction, filtering, strain gauge, piezo, etc.
