The Fleet Operations Supervisor will oversee a dedicated team of Technicians and Mechanics, driving a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for large and heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring the fleet operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

What to expect in the Fleet Operations Supervisor role:
Lead, mentor, and develop team members

Evaluate employee performance and maintain visibility across all shop areas

Manage multiple shop operations effectively

Schedule daily workforce to align with workload demands

Support the operations team with equipment-related challenges

Identify and implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements

Handle administrative tasks, including payroll approval, repair order management, and compliance documentation

Address performance issues with direct reports

Ensure a clean and safe working environment for staff and equipment

Engage with clients to meet operational and company requirements

Track and oversee equipment sent for external repairs

Conduct pre-shift briefings

Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies

Participate in the recruitment process for shop positions

Qualifications and Skills:

What our ideal candidate brings:


A minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance or operations, along with 5-8 years of direct management experience.

Prior experience as a technician or mechanic

High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of heavy truck and trailer repair and maintenance

Willingness to travel as required; managing multiple shop locations as assigned

In-depth understanding of DOT regulations, company policies, and procedures

Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills

Strong written and verbal communication abilities (documentation, peer interactions, etc.)

Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, Fleet Management systems, and familiarity with large ERP/timekeeping systems

Work Environment:
Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing job duties.

Exposure to dust, diesel fumes, and noise.

Contact with chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants.

Ability to lift and position heavy objects.

Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl to repair vehicles.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
