Custodian - Building Service Worker (1st Shift)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Wheaton College. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide custodial services, including cleaning all building areas and furnishings, using appropriate equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Empty rubbish and recycling containers and ensure they are placed in the proper location for pick-up.
- Maintain security and safety guidelines, observing safety rules and regulations, and reporting any defective or unsafe conditions to the Supervisor.
- Move furniture as needed or requested.
- Exercise sound judgment when using equipment and chemicals, and follow approved safety standards and precautions.
- Respond to all requests and complaints in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision to meet required deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, resolve problems, and function as a member of a team.
- Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky and heavy equipment.
- Physically capable of lifting lbs.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
- Previous custodial and customer service experience and a High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors, including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills, and relevant experience, as well as internal equity.
The starting hourly rate for this position is $18/hr.
Physical DemandsThis position requires the ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky and heavy equipment.
