Senior Estimator Job Description

Swinerton, a leading commercial construction services provider, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative solutions and outstanding service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
  • Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Determine labor and construction equipment costs to prepare conceptual estimates.
  • Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Submit requisitions for purchase of materials and compare competitive trade bids.
  • Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Secure all bid documents and prepare subcontractor bid lists.
  • Participate in bid compilation on bid day and assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Supervise and train estimating staff to ensure high-quality estimates and efficient project execution.

Requirements:

  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience, with a strong understanding of construction costs and principles.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of construction software and tools, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
