Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Appalachian Regional Healthcare. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support services.

Job Summary

The Medical Support Specialist is responsible for providing personalized care to patients in various settings. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for performing routine patient care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding. You will also assist with daily living activities, including positioning patients, making beds, and preparing patients for meals.

  • Administer enemas, douches, and insert rectal tubes as instructed by nurse.
  • Apply ace bandages and elastic stockings, fill hot water bottles, ice bags, pads, and humidifiers.
  • Care for Foley catheters and Levine tubes as instructed by nurse.
  • Provide postmortem care and transport body to morgue.
Responsibilities

In addition to patient care tasks, you will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment. This includes observing for and reporting safety hazards, preparing incident reports, and maintaining a sanitary and safe environment in service and nursing areas.

You will also participate in team conferences, in-service education programs, and staff meetings. Additionally, you will assist other hospital employees as needed and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a high school GED equivalent or higher. A nurse aide training program is required, and three months of on-the-job training is necessary to attain proficiency in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $38,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
