Job Opportunity

Advanced Technology and Research Corporation is seeking a skilled engineer to join our team in Maryland. As a structural dynamics engineer, you will work on finite element modeling and analysis of Naval systems and components, analyzing and evaluating the acoustic behavior of Navy vessels and test articles, and designing and evaluating acoustics signature mitigation techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform finite element modeling and analysis of Naval systems and components
  • Analyze and evaluate the acoustic behavior of Navy vessels and test articles
  • Design and evaluate acoustics signature mitigation techniques
  • Produce technical documents and reports

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of finite element modeling experience desired

Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must have professional ability to apply scientific methodology to engineering problems, and must be a self-starter and willing to learn. We are looking for applicants with a high level of technical/intellectual curiosity and the ability to work independently.

  • Understanding of structural dynamics and vibration
  • Understanding of acoustics signatures
  • Ability to perform finite element modeling and analysis
  • Ability to write automation scripting tools using MATLAB
  • Familiar with finite element analysis software such as Abaqus
  • Familiar with finite element mesh generation tools such as HyperMesh

Additional Requirements:

Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
