Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist I role at Innova Solutions involves assisting in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, and collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand all physician orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Pack specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Requirements:

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (if required).
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
