Job Overview

Pathfinder Ranch, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Camp Counselor for our summer program. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in the lives of our campers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship in a fun and safe environment.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $660.00 to $780.00 per week, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive pay, we offer paid time off after 30 days and health insurance options for those working multiple seasons.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise campers during scheduled times, including meals and evenings
  • Guide campers in life skills such as independence and communication among peers
  • Create a safe, fun, and appropriate environment for all campers
  • Collaborate with fellow camp counselors, program assistants, and camp leaders in program planning
  • Implement appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Follow and uphold all policies and procedures of Pathfinder Ranch, Inc.
  • Assist with facilitating programs such as climbing, horseback riding, archery, team challenge, hiking, canoeing, arts and crafts, etc.
  • Communicate daily with leadership
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities and planning
  • Assist in program areas as needed
  • Encourage campers to participate and try new activities
  • Document program records, logs, and reports accurately
  • Ensure the security and safety of camp facilities, grounds, and equipment
  • Inventory and recommend equipment acquisitions as needed
  • Provide positive public relations on behalf of Pathfinder Ranch, Inc. and serve as the liaison between the ranch and client groups
  • Communicate and coordinate with camper parents/guardians
  • Comply with Health and Fire Department regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation standards
Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Sincere interest and ability to work with children in the outdoors
  • Exhibit the ability to work well within the Pathfinder Ranch organization and with other employees
  • Willing and able to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively in a timely and accurate manner
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Hold and maintain the following certifications issued by a nationally recognized provider: First Aid, Adult & Child CPR (at least 50% of the course must be in-person with a practical skills session)
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work a varied shift schedule in excess of 10 hours per day
  • Ability to traverse several miles per day on steep and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions
