Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to join our team at PSEG. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues to ensure plant reliability and availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Technical Solutions: Develop mechanical technical evaluations, including repair plans, bolting, torquing, and gasket evaluations, to ensure safe and reliable plant operation.
  • Monitor and Improve Plant Reliability: Monitor, trend, and assess system, program, and component health to improve plant reliability and availability.
  • Champion Strategic Improvements: Champion strategic improvements to systems and components to enhance plant performance and efficiency.
  • Support Maintenance and Work Management: Resolve engineering technical issues within the work management process, including simple troubleshooting support, to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Lead Complex Troubleshooting Activities: Lead complex troubleshooting activities with maintenance and operations support to resolve plant issues.
  • Design, Develop, and Install Modifications: Lead the design, development, and installation of strategic, emergent, and temporary modifications in the plant to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Identify and Prioritize Plant Processes: Identify, prioritize, and support other plant processes and programs, including the corrective action program, operability determination, adverse condition monitoring, and operational decision-making processes.
  • Perform Field Support and System Walk-Downs: Perform field support of plant activities and conduct paired or individual system walk-downs to ensure plant safety and reliability.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Lead cross-functional teams to manage and resolve system performance issues and ensure program/component/system readiness and compliance with design/license basis.
  • Address Emergent Issues: Address emergent issues to minimize the impact on engineering core business activities.
  • Provide Regulatory and Industry Support: Provide strategy recommendations and support for regulatory and industry inspections.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering or a related technical degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of performing engineering work in a nuclear or related industry.
  • Availability: Available for shift work during plant outages and generation challenges.
  • Nuclear Requirements: Must meet nuclear requirements for unescorted site access.
  • Additional Qualifications: Desired qualifications include valve experience, nuclear power plant engineering, current or previous SRO license/cert, master's degree, industry leadership, and system or component SME.
