Job Summary:

The Paralegal/Case Coordinator will collaborate with attorneys and staff in legal document preparation and be responsible for communication with clients and contractors, as well as office administration tasks, such as petition compilation and mailing. The specific duties in this role are dependent upon the needs of the law firm and may be subject to change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Track and manage critical deadlines firmwide and provide oversight on case progress within docket areas;
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and legal team to maintain deadlines and file cases in a timely manner;
  • Maintain and oversee an active docket across practice areas, including family-based, consular, removal, employment-based, asylum, and other immigration case types;
  • Provide initial review and feedback to paralegals and contractors on standard applications, including but not limited to, I-765s, I-131s, I-90s, FOIAs, etc.;
  • Supervise individual work on cases to ensure that submissions meet the standards of the firm, including the review of final packets within certain areas of practice;
  • Participate in case meetings with attorneys to determine case issues and plan case strategy;
  • Communicate with clients, labor/management organizations, and contractors regularly;
  • Perform client intake, including gathering supporting documents, completing forms, and preparing legal memos;
  • Prepare and assemble petitions for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Embassies and Consulates, and Labor/Management organizations, and Federal courts, as needed; and,
  • Administrative tasks, such as mailing, scanning, copying, calendaring deadlines, scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and other related duties.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an immigration law firm;
  • Bachelor or Associate degree;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat programs;
  • Strong proofreading skills;
  • Demonstrable expertise in writing;
  • Clear and effective communication skills; and,
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, including attention to detail.
