POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves assisting in the preparation and serving of nutritious, appealing meals to residents as directed by the Dietary Director and/or Cook. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
JOB DUTIES

Essential Job Functions
- Punctually attend scheduled shifts.
- Support the culinary service director/cook in establishing and upholding quality standards for food storage, preparation, and presentation.
- Prepare and serve well-balanced, appetizing meals that cater to residents' preferences and dietary requirements in a timely manner.
- Ensure appropriate meals and snacks are provided to residents.
- Adhere to dietary department licensing standards and regulations.
- Regularly communicate feedback from residents regarding meals to the culinary service director.
- Notify the Culinary Service Director/Cook when supplies and food items are low for reordering.
- Follow sanitation schedules for the kitchen, equipment, and dining area to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Assist in coordinating special events, such as holiday meals and birthday celebrations, as directed by the Culinary Service Director/Cook.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and continuing education as required.
- Follow MSDS procedures for hazardous materials.
- Comply with infection control, safety, and sanitation practices.
- Report any hazardous conditions or incidents promptly.
- Understand and promote resident rights and safety.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident health information as per HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors, and colleagues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
A high school diploma and one year of experience in cooking/baking from scratch, including special diets, or a combination of education and experience in a long-term care or assisted living environment.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Word and Outlook in a Windows environment or equivalent.
Language Skills
Ability to read, speak, and understand English effectively, and communicate with residents, families, and staff.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data accurately.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
Certificates & Licenses
First aid and CPR training will be provided on the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, and sit as required; lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
